Can anyone help me with the brilliant blue-white in the constellation Orion?
Yolanda Lim told of brilliant blue-white star of the constellation Orion is called Rigel. It is 900 light years away. Yolanda Rigel asked if it still exists. What answer could Yolanda Lim? I do not know needs help please explain:) Thanks 10 points best answer!
May the light of Rigel we see today left Rigel 900 years ago. The maximum weight allowed for the formation of stars they can live with a minimum lifetime of a few hundred thousand years. Rigel luminous and massive but, at most, it is the most massive star, so you probably would still be with us for life beyond a few million years. Both Yolanda Lim nad we can conclude Rigel will still be around for a few million years and that this was only confirms that they are seeing the light will continue in coming years. Clear skies! PS The latest Hipparcos distance correction Rigel places around 850 years light.
