Fibers
The Romans used different types of fibers. Wool was probably used more often as obtained easily and relatively easy to prepare. Other materials used were of flax and hemp, although a more complex preparation process is required to create fabrics from these sources than from wool. There is some evidence that cotton was used, but less frequently. Silk, imported from many places, too known.

Silk and cotton were imported China and India, respectively. Silk was rare and expensive, a luxury available only to the wealthy and those who use women. Another type of silk, called "sea silk" was obtained from a snail and it was a luxury item as well.
The Romans had to turn his material with a manual spinner. The archaeological discoveries of Greek vases represent art weaving, while writers in the field of antiquities mention the art of weaving and fiber production. Until the second century BC, the toga was worn by both genders and had no distinction rank – after that, a woman wearing a robe has been characterized as a prostitute. The differentiation between rich and poor was through the material quality; the upper classes wore thin, natural colored wool robes, while the lower classes-had thick or thin material sense. Footwear
