Where can I have ancient Mexican artifacts appraised for free?
I inherited 4 ancient aztec or mayan artifacts from my grandpa and would like to know their value. One of them is a ceramic pot shaped like an animal. My grandpa always said it was probably an animal that is now extinct. There are also 3 small ceramic statues/idols. The idols have some paint.. one of them is missing a hand, the animal pot had it’s nose broken off at some point and glued back on. Again, I don’t want to pay to have them appraised and if anyone can help me out that would be amazing.
Take it to your nearest university’s Anthropology department and find a professor that knows a bit about that area. If they cannot do it they probably know someone who could look at it for you. This would be free.
