Can I eat off of a painted ceramic plate?

I recently bought enamel paint for painting plates.
The paint says “do not eat directly from painted plate”. Is there anything I can put over the painted plate (after I’ve baked it in the oven or before) to make it safe to eat off of??

Enamels can have a chemical reaction from differring foods (hot, cold, acidic,etc…). Unfortunately, its not worth the risk.
