Do bowls made in Japan contain lead?
I read that handpainted pottery from China may contain lead. Anyone know if it’s the same for Japan? Is it safe from eating out of?
I am Japanese living in Japan and so watching and reading Japanese news everyday. At least, I’ve never heard Japanese bowls contain dangerous amount of lead. I searched the web in Japanese but all I could found was the news that “cheap made-in-China pottery violated the regulations”.
One of the selling point of the Japanese pottery shop I found was, “not made in China”. So at least Japanese customer trust in made-in-Japan pottery/bowls more.
Anyway, if you are very cautious about toxic substances, you better not use unreasonably cheap one. Especially for childs. In Japan, many parents have same worries so they often avoid made-in-China pottery/bowl.
Personally I don’t care much about it so I’m using cheap bowls…
sorry for my poor English…
